The 14th Annual Happily Natural Day
More Than Just Curl Patterns & Hair Products
Happily Natural Day is bigger than your Afro. African people throughout the diaspora are working diligently to embrace their own identity again. Happily Natural is a gathering space for healing.
400 years of Resistance
Our concern is with the social ramifications of 400 years of negating ourselves in conformance to Western society’s mores and how that phenomenon impacts our community in negative ways today.
Embrace the Natural You
Happily Natural Day addresses the fact that inferiority complexes influence people of indigenous descent to act outside of their own self-interest, away from self-determination and toward degradation.
Happily Natural has evolved significantly since inception at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia. It has affected people’s lives in a positive way, bringing together diverse aspects of the African community. It continues in its grassroots approach with hopes to further affect change in the community by raising consciousness and breaking down inferiority complexes by promoting natural haircare.
Happily Natural Day is a true community event and we look forward to succeeding in our mission to raise consciousness
